These are place-based reconciliation education programs that align with the HASS curriculum and are facilitated by First Nations and non-Indigenous facilitators. This is reconciliation in action and aims to inspire students to think more deeply about connecting with Culture, to learn about Australia’s true history, and to provide foundational reconciliation education. The hour-long sessions are designed for: 

• Year 4 students focused on Law and Lore (rules and laws)  

• Year 5 students focused on Colonial History 

• Year 6 students focused on Aboriginal Citizenship 

The programs create the opportunity for embedded reconciliation education through an excursion program run at the Constitutional Centre of WA* or an incursion at your school. 

• Year 4 Program: ‘Lore and Law,’ focuses on two cultures – Aboriginal and British/Australian – and the laws and lore that come from the two.  The one-hour lesson supports students understanding of law/lore, encourages students to accept difference as positive and consider other ways of decision making in addition to the Westminster System. 

• The Reconciliation WA Year 5 Program: ‘Perspectives on Colonial History,’ focuses on perspectives and truth by considering voices from the early colonies, including British men of authority, Aboriginal people who experienced history in the making and their family stories passed down. Students are invited to consider the perspectives of both Aboriginal and British actors as the history unfolds and the landscape changes. 

• The Reconciliation WA Year 6 Program: ‘Aboriginal Citizenship Perspectives,’ focuses on truth and citizenship in the Western Australian story from colonial settlement to the present day. Students are asked to consider the different perspectives on WA events and laws as the landscape for Aboriginal people changed over the 200 or so years since colonisation.

These programs are also suitable for older age groups, including adults. There is some alignment in Year 9 History with the Year 5 program and Year 10 History with the Year 6 program. Additionally, perspectives on Australian identity in Year 8 HASS has alignment with the Year 4 and 6 programs.

* Excursion sessions run at the Constitutional Centre of WA can be combined with available Constitutional Education, Parliamentary Education and Electoral Education programs.  

Pricing Information per lesson type

Excursions (you come to us!): For class sizes up to 35 students, $250 + GST
Incursions* (we come to you!): For class sizes up to 35 students, $400 + GST
*Please note that if your school is outside of the Metropolitan area there may be additional travel costs incurred.  Please continue to complete this form and we can discuss these with you directly.

Please also note that a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the cost is required within seven (7) days of invoicing to secure the booking.  This payment is required so that we can pay Elders. Please note, if you do not pay the deposit within seven (7) days from the day of the invoice, your booking will be cancelled. The balance of the invoice is payable no later than 14 days prior to your sessions. Cancellations may incur fees.
