Anti-racism is taking an active stance against racism, to uproot and dismantle discriminatory systems, policies, and attitudes. This process includes challenging and transforming structures that perpetuate racial inequalities.
At its core, anti-racism requires proactive action. It goes beyond just not being racist, but instead involves continuous learning, empathetic listening, and self-reflection. By understanding the impact of race and racism on marginalised communities, especially Aboriginal peoples and other people of colour, we acknowledge how we may unintentionally contribute to systemic bias and racism.
Anti-racism is a collective commitment to creating equality through systemic change, striving to ensure that power is justly distributed and shared. It’s a journey of conscientious action, aimed at creating a fairer, more just society for all.
